Fifth Grade

Heather Neuvar, Teacher

Howdy! My name is Heather Neuvar and I am a fifth grade teacher at Torres Elementary.  I graduated from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) with a Bachelor’s of Science in Food Science and Technology. I spent the first four years of my career in the business world, but decided to follow my heart and become a teacher. It is one of the best decisions that I have ever made! This is my fifth year teaching and I absolutely love what I do! I have a beautiful baby boy, a precious baby girl, and a wonderful husband who bring so much love and joy to my life. When I am not at school teaching, I love to spend time with my family, travel, and read. I am so excited about the 2019-2020 school year and I can’t wait to watch my 5th grade students grow!

Howdy! My Name is Ms. Kayla Garner! I am a proud Torres Tiger! I will be your child’s 5th grade Math and Science teacher for the 2019-2020 school year & I am excited to make this my best year yet!
Danya Alcaraz, Teacher

Hello there! My name is Danya Alcaraz, and I am so excited to be teaching fifth grade this school year! This is my first year as a classroom teacher, but my sixth year in education. I have been an AVID tutor at most Victoria middle schools, and a paraprofessional at East high School before coming to student teach in first grade at Torres last year. I fell in love with this campus and our students, and I am so happy to be working here.

When I am not teaching, I love to read, eat, go to the movies, travel, and spend time with my dogs and family. My favorite quote is by Eric Butterworth, and it says, "Don't go through life; grow through life." Growth is our theme  in fifth grade, and I am excited to watch and help my kids grow!
