The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees approved three key leadership appointments during the May 15 regular board meeting, solidifying continued efforts to support academic excellence and operational innovation across the district. These appointments include new principals at Victoria East High School, and Shields Elementary, as well as a new Director of Technology for the district.

Suzann Creager Appointed Principal of Victoria East High School

S. CreagerSuzann Creager has been named the new principal of Victoria East High School. Creager currently serves as associate principal at Victoria East and has been a part of the Titan family since 2013, previously serving as assistant principal. She holds both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Houston–Victoria.

Creager brings extensive and successful experience to the role, having also served as a campus testing coordinator and teacher within Victoria ISD. Her deep understanding of the campus, combined with her proven leadership and dedication to student success, position her to lead Victoria East with excellence.

“I’m honored to continue serving the students, staff, and families of Victoria East,” said Creager. “I’m committed to fostering a positive, supportive school culture where all students can grow, achieve, and thrive.”

Carla Gajewsky Named Principal of Shields Elementary School

C. GajewskyCarla Gajewsky has been named the new principal of Shields Elementary School. Gajewsky joined Victoria ISD in 2023 as the assistant principal of Shields and brings more than two decades of experience in public education. She began her career in 2001 as an elementary school teacher and has also taught at the middle school level. She became an assistant principal in 2006 and has held various leadership roles including Secondary Reading and Dyslexia Coordinator, STEM Grant Manager, and education specialist with Region 3 Education Service Center.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and a master’s degree from the University of Houston–Clear Lake.

“It’s an honor to continue serving the Shields community,” said Gajewsky. “I look forward to working alongside our staff and families to ensure every student has the opportunity to grow and succeed.”

Jennifer Wyatt to Serve as Director of Technology

J. WyattJennifer Wyatt has been approved as the new Director of Technology for Victoria ISD. Wyatt currently serves as the Assistant Director of Technology, a role she has held since 2022. She brings more than 15 years of experience in digital learning and educational technology, having previously served in key leadership positions including Coordinator of Digital Learning at Fort Sam Houston ISD, Coordinator of Library Media Services at San Antonio ISD, Director of Technology at Bay City ISD, and with Region 3 Education Service Center.

Wyatt holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston–Victoria and a master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University. In this role, she will lead district wide efforts to strengthen technology infrastructure and support instructional technology integration across all campuses.

“I look forward to continuing our work to ensure every student and educator in VISD has the tools and support they need to thrive in a digital world,” said Wyatt.
