Long-term facilities planning remains a top priority for the Victoria ISD Board of Trustees and district leadership. To keep families and community stakeholders informed and involved, VISD is sharing an update following the July 31 Facilities Planning Workshop, highlighting the ongoing efforts to shape the future of district campuses and facilities.
At the May 15, 2025, regular meeting of the VISD Board of Trustees, the Board approved the formation of three strategic subcommittees to support long-range planning for the district. One of these, the Bond Action Committee (BAC), was established as a citizen advisory group to support, promote, and provide input on the development of a potential facilities bond proposal.
Made up of 43 members, including parents, staff, business leaders, and residents from across Victoria, the BAC also includes three Board representatives:
Board President Micah Patton
Board Secretary Kathy Bell
District 7 Trustee Mickey Kostella
Throughout the summer, the BAC participated in three informational meetings and conducted site tours of 11 VISD campuses and facilities, evaluating the needs and priorities across the district. These in-depth conversations were critical in assessing current conditions and identifying areas for future investment.
At the July 17, 2025, regular Board meeting, a BAC representative presented preliminary recommendations to the Board of Trustees. These recommendations informed the discussion at the July 31 Board workshop, where trustees worked collaboratively to develop a multi-phase bond proposal.
The Board’s proposed plan outlines two initial bond phases, Phase One and Phase Two, developed using priority recommendations provided by the BAC. In addition, trustees are actively developing three more phases that would collectively form a 10-Year Facilities Plan, designed to ensure long-term, sustainable investment in schools across the district.
To continue this collaborative process, the Board has asked the BAC to reconvene on Tuesday, August 5, to review and collaborate on the proposed Phase One and Phase Two bond proposals.
VISD remains committed to transparency, community engagement, and the responsible planning of district resources. The district encourages families and community members to stay informed as this important work continues.
