The STAAR and EOC testing season is officially underway, and across VISD, campuses are getting creative to help students feel prepared, confident, and ready to succeed!
Fun and Focused STAAR & EOC Prep on Campus
At STEM Middle School, students are attending STAAR Camp to sharpen their math and reading skills. Teachers are providing small group support and focused writing camps, and students are working toward a celebration once testing is done!
At Victoria East High School, students are preparing for the EOC exams through STAAR Island, a fun and engaging themed experience. Their last STEM Day transformed EOC lessons into interactive games to make learning more exciting and memorable.
These hands-on, student-centered activities not only reinforce learning but also reduce test anxiety and keep students motivated.
How Families Can Help at Home
Supporting student success is a team effort between schools, families, and the community. Here are a few simple but powerful ways families can help their students feel confident and prepared:
Get a good night’s sleep before each test day.
Provide a healthy breakfast to start the day off right.
Arrive at school on time and ready to go with a positive mindset.
Students who are well-rested, nourished, and supported are better able to show what they know on test day.

3rd–8th Grade RLA & English I/II: April 15–16
5th & 8th Grade Science & Biology: April 23
8th Grade Social Studies & US History: April 24
3rd–8th Grade Math & Algebra I: April 29–30
These assessments measure students’ understanding of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and help determine readiness for the next grade level. Your encouragement and support play a big part in your child’s academic success.
